LEARN ABOUT VEILS

We know that choosing the right veil for your special occasion can be confusing. You have probably looked at a number of magazines and websites and not understood some of the terms used.

On this page we have attempted to answer a lot of the questions brides ask about their wedding veil .A little knowledge will go a long way towards making choosing your Bridal Veil stress free. 

Bridal Tulle - All of our Bridal Veils are made from Bridal Illusions Tulle. This is a fine net made specially made for Wedding Veils. It is not the heavier net that you will find on under slips of wedding dresses.

Bridal Illusions Tulle does have a small amount of stiffness that will help it hold its fullness, while still allowing the veil to fall softly.

Beaded & Embroidered Veils - All our Beaded & Embroidered Veils are 72" wide and come in White or Ivory Illusion Tulle.  Any of these veils can be shortened to your desired length. 

TYPES OF VEILS                                            

1 or 2-Tier Veils are the most common.

3-Tier Veils are available as a Custom Order. Click on Custom Order Image to the side.

1-Tier Veils will almost always be gathered across the full width of the tulle and have a cascade effect down each side.

 Mantilla Veils are the exception, as they are not gathered, but are Oval or Circular in shape & have a beautiful wide lace edge.   

Standard Cut - Veil is folded and gathered across the full width of the tulle.

                        The tulle cascades down either side. 

Circular Cut - Veil is folded and gathered across the centre section of the tulle. The remainder of the width, falls softly to either side in folds.

VEIL LENGTHS 

 These are the standard length combinations we use in our 1-Tier and 2-Tier Veils.

 However we can make ANY length of veil you need.  See Custom Made Veils.

CUSTOM MADE VEILS

Your Kiss Bridal Veil can be made to order to any design you require. 

We suggest you look through wedding magazines and look at our 1-Tier Veils, 2-Tier Veils and Beaded Veils.  

Fill out the Custom Made Veil Quote. If you are still not sure, you can send us any questions you have and we will be happy to get back to  you and personally discuss and confirm your design.

Custom Made Veils will take five business days to process, but let us know if you need a rush order. 

Please note, that as your veil will be uniquely made to your specification, we are unable to refund or exchange custom orders.

VEIL COLORS 

White or Ivory Illusion Tulle are our standard colors and come in all widths. All our veils are available in these colors.

  White  Tulle -  This is our most popular standard color. If your dress is pure white (and you don’t want a contrast) choose White or Sparkle White. 

 Available in 54",  72" and 108"  widths.

Ivory Tulle – Our second most popular standard color. If your dress is Ivory, choose Ivory or Sparkle Ivory.

 Not all ivory colors are the same. however when the veil is gathered the color is dispersed. We use a light Ivory color that compliments Ivory wedding dresses.  

Available in 54", 72" and 108" widths.

Diamond White – Is an off-white color (half way between White and Ivory).

You would choose this color if your dress is not a pure white. As with the Ivory Tulle, once it is gathered it tends to match off white dresses.  Available in 54", 72" and 108"widths.   Diamond White is a custom order.

Sparkle White, Diamond White and Ivory – These colors are the same as above but have a slight sparkle to them , that gives a beautiful shimmer accent to your bridal veil.

Available in 54",  72",  and 108" widths. 

Sparkle tulles are a custom order and are non-returnable.

Pink Tulle -  Our Pink Tulle is a delicate shade of pink.

Available in  54",  72" and  108" widths.

Pink tulle is a custom order and is non-returnable.

 Beige Tulle – A slighter darker color than Ivory. Available in 54", 72" and 108" widths.            

 Beige is a custom order.

Café Tulle - Has more depth of color than beige. Only available in 54” width.          

Sparkle Cafe  Tulle – As above but with a slight shine. Only Available in 54” width.

Cafe and Sparkle Cafe Tulles are a custom order and are non-returnable.

Glimmer Tulle -  This tullle is white with a pretty silver spot.

Only available in  54" width.

Glimmer  Tulle is a custom order and is non-returnable.

Silver Tulle -  This silver tulle has a gorgeous silver shimmer.

Only available in  54" width.

Silver tulle is a custom order and is non-returnable.

Gold Tulle - This tulle  has a beautiful soft golden color that compliments deeper ivory or colored gowns.

Only available in  54" width.

Gold tulle is a custom order and is non-returnable.

VEIL WIDTH OR FULLNESS 

              Illusion Tulle veils are available in 3 widths. Width does not affect the cost of your veil.   

              Not all veil colors are available in all widths. See Veil Colors above. 

            A Standard Cut 108” Veil will give the very fullest effect. The shorter the veil, the fuller it will appear.

            72” and 108” are equally popular with our brides and are the same cost.

45”       Chiffon Veils are only available in 45” wide but can be made in any length and with any edging.

VEIL FULNESS PROBLEMS 

1)  Veil too Full 

    If the veil appears too full, hang it in the bathroom while you are having a shower, then gently run your fingers thru the fullness. Pat the folds down to achieve the desired look.

2)  Veil not Full Enough

a)       Single Tier – hang the veil in the bathroom with steam, then push your fingers up between the folds, close to the gathers.

b)       Two Tiers or more – separate the layers of the tulle gently, then arrange the folds into place with your fingers. 

Top Tip - NEVER, NEVER, NEVER  put an iron directly onto your Bridal Veil !!!  If you need to get a crease out of your veil you can hold your iron over your veil and steam it gently. It is still advisable to place a clean cotton men's hankerchief or pressing cloth over the tulle before you commence steaming.

VEIL EDGES & EDGE COLORS

Kiss Bridal Veils has a wide selection of edge finishes for your veil.

Three of our edge finishes are available in colors - Corded, Satin Rattail and 3/8" Satin Ribbon.

Your veil edge finish will affect the way your veil falls and moves. The heavier the edge, the more the veil will hang down.

The width of a ribbon edge will also have an effect on the fall of your veil.

Cut Edge is a simple clean finish.

Filament Edge has a  fine clear cord sewn into the edge. The effect is a dainty slightly curled or waved edge.

Corded Edge (also called Pencil or Serged ) will give a fine pencil width finish.  Corded edges are available  in a range of colors above.

Rattail Edge is a thicker corded satin edge. Available in our range of colors above.

White or Ivory Soutache Edge( also called Russia Braid) is a flatter 1/8" satin braid with a dip in the centre.

White or Ivory Satin Ribbons are available in 1/8", 3/8",  7/8". 

The 3/8" ribbon is also available in a range of colors above.

White or Ivory Scalloped Lace Edge is usually used on Mantilla Veils.

SCATTERED PEARLS & RHINESTONE ACCENTS

Scattered Pearls & Rhinestones can be combined.

Scattered Pearls are available in White or Ivory.

Scattered Rhinestones are available in the range of colors shown above.  Silver is the most popular.

Rhinestone colors match the colored rhinestones offered in our Tiaras with Colored Accents.

Scattered Accents are a custom order and are non-returnable.
